on the other side of fear

Every time we say no to something out of fear- we are also saying no to everything that is available to us from love.

Things I’ve done that scared the 💩 out of me but I still did it:

*all of the high stress ballet auditions over the years (made all of them except 2- yet still all scary)

*apply for college

*become a mom

*coach high school drill team

*go to therapy

*start a dance studio

*meditate

*close said dance studio

*have another baby

*try again after miscarriage

*have a baby after 8 years

*commit to fully being a coach/mentor

*committing to every coach/mentor I’ve had

*question my thoughts and beliefs

*question the nature of reality, question the nature of God, and be willing to accept whatever answer arrives

Looking back- every TRANSFORMATIONAL moment in my life came from doing what SCARED me. It felt right, but I was afraid of failure. And guess what? I wouldn’t take back any single one of them. Bloodshot eyes and all (my 21 month old still wakes up in the night).

What are you afraid of? Where do you need to leap? Here are a few inspiring quotes about facing your fears to cheer you on:

-To dare is to lose one’s footing momentarily. To not dare is to lose oneself. -Soren Kierkegaard

-If one is forever cautious, can one remain a human being? -Aleksander Solzhenitsyn

-It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed. -Theodore Roosevelt

-Try a thing you haven’t done three times. Once, to get over the fear of doing it. Twice, to learn how to do it. And a third time to figure out whether you like it or not. -Virgil Thomson

-Our doubts are our traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt. -William Shakespeare

-We learn wisdom from failure much more than success. We often discover what we will do, by finding out what we will not do. -Samuel Smiles
