you are not your body

The things that really matter are invisible

I know that how my body looks, works and feels has little to no meaning about who I am and what my worth is.

How do I know this is true? Because my ego SCREAMS that the opposite is true: “everything, all of my worth has EVERYTHING to do with my body”.

If you believe this thought, which I did, which the world does, then there goes the focus of your entire life. Because you either will 1. Try to have the perfect body so you will have worth, (but perfection never comes, so you just keep trying and trying and heaven forbid one thing gets a little old or saggy) or 2. You will identify with your body as “imperfect” and that will become you identity, which will keep you from every really experiencing and living as who you truly are.

As Hellen Keller (who would know duh) said, “all things seen are temporal, all things unseen are eternal”.

You can’t ever see the things that REALLY matter, and that are actually REAL. Think about it! Can you see who you truly are as a spirit piece of the universe? As energy?

Nope. You can feel it, but that can’t be seen.

This human meat suit that I am in, I actually do love it. But I wasn’t able to embrace it and love it until I stopped identifying with it. It no longer is “my hair” “My legs” “my wrinkles”. It’s a human body, doing exactly what my human brain is telling it to. THE END.

I am responsible for what I do with it, and how I treat it, and how much of a conduit for God’s love and acceptance I make it. But the rest? FUHGETTABOUTIT. It doesn’t matter. And the cool part is, when you start seeing and feeling and treating your body as a mortal temple for your kick butt spirit? Well, you just naturally treat it really really well. And respect it. And respect other’s meat suits as well.

How many times has hating yourself and judging yourself actually worked or made you feel you have more worth? How about never? Try not labeling your body and making it part of your identity, who would you be? How would you show up? How much could you do with the time, energy and resources you spend trying to worry about fixing it? Probably a whole lot!
