Giving and Receiving are the same thing
You can’t fully give without receiving. And you can’t fully receive without giving. Why? Because they are two sides of the same coin.
You can’t give one side of a coin without the other.
Before I became aware of my thoughts and actions I believed that giving was noble and receiving was embarrassing or even insignificant. I saw giving as the way the world does: that the more it’s a sacrifice the holier you are. Jesus Christ’s example got twisted up in ego that says “suffering is holy and sacrifice (the way the world defines it) is necessary”.
True sacrifice has no loss. It’s merely exchanging something for something else. It is pure giving with love. The Savior wasn’t afraid of missing out on life by giving up his mortal one, he knew it wasn’t a loss. There is no beginning and there is no end to us as eternal spirits.
There also is no one better than you and no one beneath you. We are all children of God. Love your neighbor as yourself means giving and receiving with pure love. Because when you give love, you receive more love in return. And when you give judgement and condemnation you receive more judgement and condemnation as well.
Each judgement you give in your head to something harms the entire world. Each thought and act of love that you give heals the entire world. When you make a lunch for someone out of love, or give a kind text out of love- you are giving pure love to ALL THAT IS.
There is no level of difficulties. Each small act of love is a giant one. And each small criticism is a massacre.
As you become aware of your thoughts and see the thousands of judgments you have, meet them with the spirit, meet them with love and acceptance. Give them your full acceptance, and anything that is less than love will evaporate under the light of Christ.
You have an unlimited capacity to give and receive love, you can heal the world by healing your judgements and replacing them with love.
