the atonement and being present

To sin, means to miss the mark. Sinning is any thought, action or belief that is not aligned with who you are as an eternal slice o’ God. Sin can only occur when we believe we are separate from all that is, separate from God, separate from others.

What do we do after we sin? We repent. Oof! Trigger word alert! But hold on a sweet second, what does repent mean? “To change your mind”. To turn back to God. To return to who you really are. To become whole again. Sin is separateness, and each sin is like a little Horcrux (sorry if you aren’t a Harry Potter fan, it’s just gonna be here if you read my stuff). Little pieces you cut off from yourself that connect you to source.

Growing up I thought repentance was this HUGE process and deal and just meant SO MUCH about who I was that I “repented”. Laborious, suffering, repentance. I now repent on the reg. Like, every second sometimes (no joke). I recognize after a sin (react from thought), that I was out of alignment. I say sorry, and breathe, and return. Just like that. DING! Like a microwave dinger (isn’t that what they are called?)

I'll be honest, I still don't like the words "sin" and "repentance" because they are just HUGE giant trigger words for me. But when I realized that UNCONSCIOUSNESS, is SIN, and that you can't sin unless you are UNCONSCIOUS, then, well, I use the word unconscious. obvs.

You don't lie, cheat, steal, gossip, numb with drugs (insert any addiction), yell, scream, hit, betray, abuse, neglect, kill, etc when you are present in the here and now and know, feel, and live connected to all that is.

To me, there is NO difference between using the atonement, and being absolutely present. One. Samesies. Twinners. Both WINNING.

my present moment reminder buddy

Think about it, and because I love ya I've made you a list of their similarities:

The present moment:

-no sin (egoic, prideful thoughts or actions)

-infinite, never ending (always available to you when you choose)

-no lack or scarcity

-filled with peace and understanding

-filled with an overwhelming sense of connection

-that connection also brings a tidal wave of IMMENSE gratitude and humility because you know it has nothing to do with YOU, and everything to do with God.

The atonement:

-no sin (gone! Snap! Just like that!)

-infinite, never ending (always available to you when you choose)

-no lack or scarcity

-filled with peace and understanding

-filled with an overwhelming sense of connection

-that connection also brings a tidal wave of IMMENSE gratitude and humility because you know it has nothing to do with YOU, and everything to do with God.

A Course in Miracles calls the atonement, the infinite present moment, THE HOLY INSTANT. And I freaking love that. It is holy. It is sacred. And when I am in the present moment, it’s little ol’ me and amazing love and connection to all that is.

Isn't that amazing?

Isn't it wonderful?

YES IT IS! That's why I talk so much about being mindful and conscious. Because I've never felt closer to God, known my Savior better or had as much peace.

I highly recommend it y'all.
